Betsy of Neat Method Doesn’t Let Clutter Run Her Closet

Your closet is often where you begin your morning. Deciding what to wear can change the trajectory of your day. So, why are you staring at a pile of clothes on the chair in the corner?

There are many ways you can start to get your wardrobe in check, and one of them is a professional organizer. We sat down with Neat Method, known for their ultra-stylish, luxury home organizing services and products for when you’re seriously ready to take control over the clutter.

We spoke with Betsy, who has been working with Neat Method in Chicago for 7 years, as she shared a few of her favorite tips for organizing her closet, a bit about her style and the one fashion hack she uses every time she sets foot into a closet.

Can we talk a bit about your own personal style?

As a new mom, I'm currently excited by anything without spit up stains. Jokes aside, I'm inspired by Audrey Hepburn / classic looks.

How did you get started as an organizer?

My friend worked for Neat Method and recommended me to the company; I just celebrated 7 years!

Tell us a bit about Neat Method Chicago’s process? How does it work?

We excel in creating custom systems for our clients so our process in Chicago starts with getting to know our clients at a consult, then building organizational solutions to meet their needs + lifestyle on the project day.

What are some of the biggest challenges that people face when trying to organize their closets?

Most people don't know where to begin so I'd say overwhelm is the biggest hurdle.  Secondly, here in the city I get a lot of calls from clients who don't know how to maximize their closet's storage potential so we are able to help by selecting the right product for the space/categories.

Can you share some organization tips with our readers and how they can get started organizing their closets (and homes!)?

1) Uniform hangers, always.

2) Start small.  Set a timer and focus on one drawer or one category in your closet. Take a break, then tackle the next small thing.  Those small tasks will help build the momentum to eventually tackle the whole space. Also- invite a friend. Organizing your closet is much more fun with friends!

What are a few of your favorite closet organization trends?

I'm a big fan of the capsule wardrobe trend- especially coming out of Covid and becoming a Mom. A smaller wardrobe means less maintenance, less decisions, and less storage. Less is more for me in this season.

Can you share your three favorite closet organization products with us?

Our new everyday hangersthe oxford bin collection, and these clear stackable jewelry trays

We love a good hack (fashion, closet you name it!) Any great closet hacks we should know?

Swapping your clothes to uniform hangers is the easiest way to elevate a closet.  It adds visual order and streamlines focus to your wardrobe instead of the hangers.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with us?

Thanks so much for having me!
